Ride and Wine

Sunday, June 14, 2015 Save The Date!!!!!


68 mile bike ride from south Austin to Woodrose Winery in Stonewall, Texas Optional transition run available (out and back on Winery's road) Wonderful food, wine and music will welcome you at the finish line. Full transportation back from the winery to Austin for you and your bike! Limited number of available spots for this ride.

Want to skip the ride and just hit the party? No problem! You can come on out and join us for food, wine and music starting at 1:00 p.m.

  • Come join us for a great training ride out to Stonewall, Texas. Enjoy a wonderful meal, wine, music and transport for you and your bike back to Austin!

Finish Line Party Details:

Woodrose Winery (www.woodrosewinery.com) located in Stonewall, Texas will be the host for the wonderful finish line party.

There will be plenty of food, drinks, and music provided by Lesli Wood (www.hazelberrymusic.com)!

A winery tour will also be available for anyone who would like to see the inter workings of the Texas Hill Country Winery.

The menu will include:

  • Ceasar Salad
  • Fresh Bread and Olive Oil
  • Lasagna with meat sauce or veggie lasagna
  • Pasta with with white wine/Alfredo sauce, talapia and shrimp
  • Chocolate chip brownie

Wine tasting will include 8 wines (mix of red and white) and port. There will also be water and iced tea. In addition wine by the glass and bottle will be available for purchase.

Start and finish location:

Freescale parking lot - 6501 William Cannon, Austin TX 78735 (MAP)

Cyclists can park their car safely at the Freescale parking lot. You may drop off a finish line gear bag which will be transported by Tri Team Transport (www.triteamtransport.com) out to the winery and available upon your arrival. Cyclist will depart for the winery based on their average ride speed. The map provided will have 2 convenience stores marked (purchases and supplies from stores are cyclist's responsibility). Outside of the convenience stores there will be one aid station positioned on Fitzugh Road for riders to utilize during the ride. There will also be a SAG vehicle provided for riders, manned by a bike mechanic. Upon arrival at the winery, cyclist will be able to drop off their bike for transport back to Freescale, and pick up their gear bag. A transition run route will be provided for anyone wanting to do a run off the bike (.6 mile out and back route on the winery's entrance road. A water cooler and nutritional supplies will be set up at the turn around for the run route.) Transportation for cyclists, back to Austin, will be in comfort via coach bus and will depart at approximately 4-4:30 p.m. Cyclists will then be able to pick up their bike courtesy of Tri Team Transport (www.triteamtransport.com upon return at Freescale.

  • 7:45 a.m. 15 and under mph average
  • 8:00 a.m. 15-16 mph average
  • 8:15 a.m. 17-18 mph average
  • 8:30 a.m. 18 mph average

Coach bus for cyclists will depart winery at 4-4:30 p.m. The bus will arrive back at Freescale Parking Lot approximately 6:00-6:30 p.m.

  • 50% refund available until May 31
  • 25% refund available after June 1-4
  • No refund available June 5 or later

No refund for weather cancellations. A weather cancellation will be determined the morning of the ride and posted here and on the TexasIron Facebook page. A delayed start time will be implemented up to 9 a.m.
